In the fall of 2022, as part of my 3D modeling class, I took on the challenge of creating an environment that depicted the unique winter atmosphere of microdistrict Aqsai in Almaty, Kazakhstan. This place is a typical post-Soviet neighborhood, characterized by concrete-paneled buildings and a somewhat depressing vibe. However, to me, it represents warm feelings of belonging and childhood. It's amazing to me how a place that can seem so cold and uninviting to some people can feel like home to others.
